EHL, founded in 1893 as the École hôtelière de Lausanne, is considered the world's leading hotel management school. Located in Switzerland, it offers university-level training programs focusing on hospitality, leadership and entrepreneurship.

Innovative, experiential teaching methods

EHL focuses on quality, innovation and experiential education. Its aim is to train the future leaders of the hospitality industry by imparting not only excellent know-how, but also interpersonal skills combining independent thinking, respect, empathy and care for others.to achieve this, the school relies on a variety of teaching methods such as simulation games, junior consultancy assignments and extracurricular activities enabling students to put their managerial skills into practice.

Peer assessment to enhance learning

In this context, peer evaluation has emerged as a key pedagogical tool for EHL. This method offers a number of advantages:

  • It enables students to better understand evaluation criteria by putting themselves in the shoes of a grader.
  • It develops their critical thinking skills and their ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • It reinforces the assimilation of knowledge by encouraging them to explain and justify their assessments.
  • It encourages exchanges and collaborative learning between peers

EHL teachers such as Lisa Conner, Ariana Proto and Karin Coyras have been quick to adopt peer assessment and are very satisfied with it. They appreciate the flexibility of the tool, its interactivity and the time it saves on grading.

"I really appreciate the way it makes student assessment not only accurate, but interactive and enjoyable. They can express themselves fully, explaining their reasoning behind the scores, which really helps us assess team dynamics. What's more, the ability to export results and automatically generate scores saves an enormous amount of time when grading. I can't recommend it highly enough!"
