Evaluating feedback

When evaluating feedback, participants are asked to assess the quality and relevance of the feedback they have received on their work.

Why evaluate feedback?

Benefits of peer review

Improved quality of feedback
By evaluating feedback from their peers, students are encouraged to provide more thoughtful and constructive feedback. This raises the overall quality of feedback, making the exercise more beneficial for all.

Developing critical skills
Students develop critical analysis and evaluation skills as they review and judge feedback from their peers. This helps them better understand evaluation criteria and hone their own ability to give relevant feedback.

Reinforcing a sense of responsibility
This process encourages students to take responsibility and adopt an ethical approach when evaluating their peers. They are more aware of the impact of their comments and are encouraged to provide fair and caring assessments.

How does ChallengeMe help you set up this activity?

Work submission phase (optional)

Participants are given a set of instructions. Participants must respond to this instruction by posting their reports on the platform (pdf, ppt, video, text...). This phase can be carried out individually or in groups.

The evaluation phase

Participants evaluate the work validated during the work submission phase or the members of their groups. They must carry out this assessment according to the criteria and assessment methods defined by the teacher. An assessment may comprise several elements:

  • Criteria for different evaluation methods (stars, scores, selection of observable elements, etc.) for the quantitative part, and the creation of a score.
  • Text feedback to help the student progress.

This phase can be carried out individually or in groups.

The feedback evaluation phase

Participants discover the assessments and feedback they have received from their peers and evaluate them according to criteria defined by the teacher.

The scoring and results display phase

Participants can consult their results according to the options defined by the teacher, who can decide whether or not to show participants their assessments, their average per criterion, details of text feedback received, the average for all participants, etc. Several methods for calculating grades and penalties are available.
