Moodle Atelier vs ChallengeMe

We're often asked about the benefits of using ChallengeMe when your school is already using Moodle Atelier. Here are a few features that might interest you!

To begin with, we've tried to design a simple, flexible solution for creating peer-to-peer activities. Our aim is to make this solution evolve through your feedback and your (very) numerous use cases. Every feature of the solution has been designed with you in mind!

Here is a summary of the main differences from Moodle Atelier

Evaluation within a workgroup aka "intra".

This feature is surely one of the most widely used! In fact, this use case is very common in schools. It allows you to ask students to evaluate each other within a work group. A typical example: students work in a group and are asked to assess the skills they have developed and/or their involvement. Unfortunately, this is not possible with Moodle Atelier.

Evaluation of work

Evaluation of group work

The second most-used feature! Today, more than 70% of all student assignments are based on group work. Of course, in Moodle Atelier, it is possible to ask one student in the group to submit the work for the others, but this means that it will not be possible to synchronize the grades of all members (or even to grade each student differently, depending on the quality of the feedback they have given).

Video compression up to 3 GB

We introduced this feature in response to numerous requests. Indeed, it's sometimes complicated for students to compress their video if it's filmed with a phone. We've decided to accept videos of up to 3 GB, which will be automatically compressed by the platform to avoid potential "friction" on the student side.

Allocation of work

Manual job allocation

It's possible with Moodle Atelier, but not super simple on a large scale. You asked us to do it, so we did. 😃. It is possible to assign group or individual work to certain students. For example, some schools will ask Group 3 to evaluate Group 1's work throughout the semester on each activity.

Email notifications

It might be a good idea to remind students a few hours before the end of the activity - well, we'll take care of that! The solution will automatically notify those who have not responded to alert them.

New: you can now choose not to send emails if you're exchanging with students in class or on Teams live.

Tracking interface

We felt it was important to be able to keep track of the activity. On Moodle Atelier, this isn't always easy, as it's hard to understand who's done what and, above all, how the grade is really constructed. So we tried to create a tracking interface with a lot of information, but above all to highlight the essential information, not forgetting the Excel export for reworking the data as you wish!

Super-simple creation form

We've tried to make the business creation form as simple and intuitive as possible! You can start from scratch or take inspiration from existing activities. This form evolves regularly, taking into account your feedback 😍

Assigning roles

Assigning roles

Evaluators can be assigned specific roles. You can involve teachers, jury members or allumnis with expert status. Their feedback will be valued differently by the students.

HUMAN support

We should have put it first, it's not really a feature. 😂 but human beings who are there to help you. We know that you can get help from your teaching teams on Moodle Atelier, but it's often not super simple and you're going to spend a lot of time on the tool. We've tried to take a slightly different approach: We've designed a simple tool where you don't need much help, and thanks to this we can help you with the pedagogy: criteria, assessment methods, instructions, groups, reports, etc.... Our team is here to help you every step of the way!
